Go2Edge will participate in the IEEE Global Communications Conference, in the 1st Workshop on Emerging Technologies in
Edge Computing and Networking (7-11 December 2021). Call for papers.

The workshop follows a novel format that pursuits two objectives:

  • To identify new challenges and share new solutions for the convergence of edge computing and networking from the perspective of academia as well as industrial partners involved in that evolution: network operators, service providers and manufacturers.
  • To encourage strong interaction between presenters and attendees.

Researchers from edge computing and networking communities are encouraged to submit complete unpublished papers with their contributions, exploring emerging technologies that allow the integration of future edge computing and networks.

Deadline for workshop paper submission: July 31, 2021

Acceptance/rejection announcement: September 15, 2021

Final workshop papers due: November 15, 2021

4th Go2Edge Plenary Meeting

The fourth plenary meeting of the network was held in a virtual
environment, on Wednesday, 28 April 2021. During the same, the correct functioning of Go2Edge was verified to date, reviewing its performance, the following network activities were shceduled taking into account the restrictions due to the COVID-19 and the development of joint research work as well as the joint submission of project proposals was promoted.

Tutorial (in Spanish): Introducción al aprendizaje automático (Introduction to machine learning)

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that aims to develop computer systems that learn from data, allowing, for example, to identify patterns, recognize objects in images, or predict the evolution of variables or the occurrence of events. It has applications in multiple fields such as Industry 4.0, e-commerce, medicine, education or economics, to name just a few.

A 3-hour tutorial on the topic was taught on Friday, 16 April 2021, 11:00-14:00 by three Go2Edge members: Dr. Ramón J. Durán Barroso (Universidad de Valladolid), Dr. Ignacio de Miguel (Universidad de Valladolid) and Dr. José Alberto Hernández (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid). The tutorial will be taught in Spanish, and by videoconference. Go2Edge members were invited to attend. The registration was required (https://forms.gle/fdbni8DEKXypEXwE7).

The tutorial provided an introduction to machine learning and in particular to the following aspects: (1) what is machine learning, focusing on supervised learning, (2) review of various learning models (linear models, neural networks, …), (3) how to choose a learning model (validation techniques) and evaluate its performance, and (4) how to select the features to be used in these systems.

This activity was organized by Go2Edge in collaboration with the Doctoral Program in Information and Telecommunications Technologies at Universidad de Valladolid and the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal 2014-2020 program (0667_DISRUPTIVE_2_E) financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

3rd Go2Edge Plenary Meeting

On January 2021, the third Go2Edge plenary meeting was held in a virtual environment too. The correct functioning of the network was verified to date during the meeting. In addition, the following network activities were planned taking into account the restrictions due to the COVID-19 and the development of joint research work as well as the joint submission of project proposals was promoted.

Workshop Go2Edge – Edge Computing Networks, Systems and Services

On 11 December 2020 the workshop: «Go2Edge  Edge Computing Networks, Systems and Services», in the 11th EAI International Conference on Broadband Communications, Networks and Systems (Broadnets 2020) was organized. The workshop was held in a virtual environment and it was open to everyone.

Two synchronous sessions were organized, in which the network was introduced, and then 6 papers were presented by Go2Edge members. Members of the network and external researchers attended this workshop.

2nd Go2Edge Plenary Meeting

The second plenary meeting of the network was held in a virtual environment. During the same, the correct functioning of Go2Edge was verified to date, the following network activities were planned taking into account the restrictions due to the COVID-19 and the development of joint research work as well as the joint submission of project proposals was promoted.
